Bonuses are optional objectives that provide a plex reward. Completing a bonus will give you more plex than completing the mission without a bonus would.
You can replay any mission you've already finished at any time, even after you've finished the campaign. Current plex and hulls and equipment owned are saved to your profile, not a specific campaign save slot, so you can freely bring them to missions you've already done. You can select a galaxy on the universe map, or pick an individual mission by selecting Stats & Achievements on the main menu, then selecting either Missions or Bonuses. Feel free to use your favorite missions to test new designs or earn some plex.
Beware of spoilers!
Part 1[]
The first part of the campaign focuses on making sure that you're familiar with the various archetypes before opening up customization. That way you know what the ships you're designing are capable of and have an idea of what you want them to do.
You can skip the Litter Glitter galaxy, but if this is your first time playing this is not a good idea. Ships in Ring Runner work a bit differently than in other space shooters, and you really want to have at least basic information such as how the classes are different from each other.

Part 2[]
The galaxies in this part can be done in any order. The R3, R4, and R5 is a rough indication of how difficult that galaxy is; in general, you want a hull of that rank with good equipment before trying to finish that galaxy. If one galaxy is giving you trouble, you can try another and come back later.
